12 Days of Gift Guides + Giveaways | My Holiday Home with Gordmans

Big news, guys: I’m hosting Christmas this year. Also the giveaway series I have been talking about is launching today. But first, let’s talk about Christmas.

Instead of me traveling to my hometown, my mother is coming to St. Louis and we’ll celebrate the holidays here. I’m thrilled — my Christmas decor is finally able to live up to its full potential, and my cat can actually eat his holiday feast on the right day for once. I was missing a couple of items required to bring my holiday hostess A game, and I was able to fill in the gaps at one of my favorite discount stores: Gordmans.

To get our house ready for Christmas morning, I needed to…

Set the Table

Hosting holiday guests means making and serving all the holiday treats, and cocoa is the obvious choice.  After all, I married someone who hates hot tea and coffee, so cocoa is actually a year-round treat in the Cain household. I love these oversized festive mugs ($4.24 each) because they are subtlety Christmas, which means I can keep them out all year — and I think most mugs are uselessly small, so these are perfect for me. The adorable embroidered tea towel ($3.39) feels very high end, and the LED mercury glass trees ($13.39) are great table decor since they are battery powered. It’s the perfect spot for a festive brunch, right?

Get Comfy & Cozy

We’re a ‘stay in pajamas all day’ kind of Christmas family, so as this year’s hostess I picked up some festive duds. I found these funny Christmas cat leggings ($8.49) and reindeer slipper socks ($4.24), plus a new ultra-soft couch blanket ($16.99) for optimum coziness by the tree. A few new name-brand candles ($9.34 and $11.04) in holiday scents finished it off. Who doesn’t want their house to smell like baking spices?

Grab an Extra Gift (or Four)

My mother always used to say you should keep an extra gift or two at home around the holidays, ready to be given to a surprise visitor or last-minute party host. There’s just one thing to remember: you should pick things you like, in case you end up keeping them. I found an adorable bottle charm/magnet ($3.34), wine bag ($3.39), Yankee Candle holiday gift package ($8.49), and Lindt White Peppermint chocolates ($3.99). I was thrilled with the affordable options at Gordmans, none of which I’d dislike keeping. Is it weird to hope I maybe am not invited to any parties? Kidding, sort of.

I might buy some stuff for the home. Or clothes.

We just got a Gordman’s around here so I’m not too familiar with the store yet, but I’m looking forward to go checking them out!
