Learning to Wear Leggings

Until about two weeks ago, I didn’t wear leggings outside of the home as pants. And then I changed my mind.

Well, I should clarify: I mainly changed my mind because leggings arrived on my doorstep. If they hadn’t been under my mailbox, I don’t know if I would have ever tried them. But alas, when you must pass a pair of pants with your name on them to get into your home, you’re a fool not to slip them on. I was simply acting reasonably.

As a blogger, I am contacted on a regular basis by brands and companies interested in collaborating. Finding out about new things to share with you (and obsess over myself) is one of the funnest parts of the job. However, quite often that brand and my site are not a good match, and I decline. When I was contacted by Nygard Slims, that was the original idea.

I don’t wear leggings as pants, I explained, although I am really loving the leather legging look on other people.

Just try them out, they said. See what you think.

The verdict is in: I think my legs look smoking hot.

My butt looks pretty fantastic in these, too, but the cozy tunic was a more comfortable starting point for rocking leggings out and about.

These Nygard Slims (available at Nygard.com and Dillard’s) fix all the issues I originally had with leggings. They are thick, which avoids the sheerness and visible panty line, and they are fitted, which keeps them from riding up and creating, well, you know… amel-cay oe-tay. Wearing them feels like heavy-duty shapewear mixed with studio-quality dance attire, and it’s sort of like an extreme hug for your thighs.

I think… I think I have been converted.

I am sorry for what I said about you in the past, leggings.
