When I mention to friends I am working on a craft project, one of the most common responses is, “I wish I knew how to do that!” (Spoiler alert: about half of mine don’t turn out right. Ha!) If you don’t think you’re particularly arts-and-crafts ready, a class might be the right choice. Having an expert around can keep everything on track — plus, some are BYOB or have drinks on-site… who doesn’t want a little cocktail with their crafting?
If you’re in St. Louis, here are three great ways to get in touch with your inner DIY diva.
Dabble
Dabble is an online platform that lets those with skills connect with those who want to learn. I’ve reviewed two Dabble classes on the site: leatherworking and soapmaking. Each time I’ve had a total blast! The offerings from Dabble are always changing, so check often for new classes. There are some cool reclaimed wood options early this year that seem really interesting!
Pinned in the Lou
The women behind Pinned in the Lou recently invited me to check out their classes, and my date Sara and I learned to make our own tile coasters! Pinned in the Lou is an ongoing series where two crafty ladies teach attendees how to make Pinterest-like projects you can recreate at home. Several 2016 classes were holiday themed, with winter doormats and Thanksgiving centerpieces; up first for 2017 is a DIY Choker and Bachelor Watch Party Workshop. Ha!
The Painted Zebra
While not technically a class, The Painted Zebra is a fun paint-your-own-pottery studio. Lance took me there on my 22nd birthday; I painted a gnome and he painted a cheeseburger bank, because we’re obviously just overgrown children. Check out the calendar for specials and Girlfriends Night Out.
