Summertime stripes featuring on-sale Target shorts + coupon

Hello, humidity! In traditional Midwestern fashion, July has been hot and humid. Since I can’t rock short-shorts at work, I’ve spent as many weekends as possible wearing my favorite denim cut-offs.Half in search of an additional pair, these patterned Target shorts caught my eye at full price, but were worth the purchase after hitting the clearance racks.

On-Sale Shorts at Target

This large selection of cottons striped shorts, all currently priced at $13.99, were all on sale at the Brentwood, Mo., location. Since I avoid white or brightly colored pants and shorts–they’re probably cute on you, but I find them odd on me– I purchased the navy pair. If you’re eyeing more than one hue, use the 25% off two women’s shorts coupon (link below) available at Target.com and select two pairs for approximately $10.50/each.

Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Lounge Shorts
Regular price: $19.99
Sale Price: $13.99
Coupon: 25% off two pairs of women’s shorts
Total for two: $20.99 + tax, or approximately $10.50/each

There are two frightening words in there: juniors and lounge. Don’t worry– upon reading that after I bought them, I panicked, too. (Something along the lines of LANCE, DID I GO TO BRUNCH IN CHILDREN’S PAJAMAS?) While these are a juniors item, which probably means you will need to size up, they are long enough to cover the entirety of the bum. Yes, that’s including that semi-scandalous part where it meets the thigh that some people like to show off. I personally do not, so I stick with anything short enough to cover that. (Is there a better name for that, by the way? Some bum jargon I’m unfamiliar with?) And it’s true that they are labeled as lounge shorts, but I don’t know why; they have a real zipper, real pockets and really aren’t pajamas. Pinkie promise.

While these will undoubtedly go lower in price, the pair I found was the last of my desired color and size. If you like it, buy it at $13.99 (or two using the 25% off coupon!) and don’t kick yourself if you could have gone a size up to save $3 sometime next week. It’s a Target lessen we all must learn the hard way, and now’s not the time to do it. Don’t let this be the Target steal that got away.

The shorts made the first appearance this morning, during brunch at Benton Park Cafe with Lance and Sara. With pops of coral and a relaxed chambray button-up, they were perfect for a relaxed, but styled, Sunday.

Which color shorts do you like best?

Thanks! But seriously, I’m glad they didn’t turn out to be PJs. Huge bummer. And absolutely! Bloggers have to stick together. 😉
