Tales of Great Sales | The $6 Lace Dress

Oh, my beloved T.J.Maxx — your sales never cease to amaze me, but your customers’ continuing inability to try on apparel that hangs poorly leaves me perpetually baffled. More for me, I guess! Today’s installment of Tales of Great Sales follows along almost word-for-word with one of my favorites: The Nearly 95% Off Rachel Roy Dress.

Where that Rachel Roy dress had piles of shapeless velvet, this frock had wrinkled, shapeless lace clinging to itself in a ‘I slept in this’ way. It runs quite large for its size (it’s technically a medium in juniors but fits like a medium in adults… also I know, I know, I bought a dress from the juniors department, you can kindly STFU, I’ve already judged myself about it and decided it was worth it) which I’m sure helped keep it on the sale rack longer. Its slip tangles easily with its neckline which made it look a little… er… strangle-y on the hanger. Once again, I completely understand how this dress was marked down time and time again: it looks like shit on a hanger.

But what is the solution we’ve talked about before, boys and girls? ALWAYS TRY IT ON. (And maybe add a belt.)

I am sure I miss out on many bargains this way – I just hate trying on clothes in the stores…..but, I also love a good bargain, so I guess I need to change my ways…..

Ha! Oh man, what a dilemma! You can always try them on at home I guess. 😉
