Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – What’s Worth the Wait?

Happy Halloween from Walt Disney World! Sure, I’m home now, but you know my mind is still in the Magic Kingdom. (And yours can be too if you win the giveaway at the bottom of this post!)

We had an absolute blast at the 2019 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and tons of you messaged me on Instagram to talk about when you’re visiting. If it’s on your list, I’d like to make a suggestion: check out the attractions and prioritize before hopping in line!

Being a Disney fan doesn’t necessarily mean accepting long lines. Depending on how we’re feeling and the line’s location, we have a pretty solid 20-minute maximum wait time when we’re in the parks. And while you can occasionally find super short lines during special events, there’s still plenty of things that require waiting. Staking out the best spots for the stage show or trying to snap a picture with a special event character aren’t at the top of my list, but in my opinion these three things are 100% worth the wait.

The ‘Boo To You’ Parade

I would watch an entire parade of these grave diggers! The Boo To You parade is the only Disney performance we stood around and waited for, and it was worth every foot-aching second. The dancing alone is incredible, and when paired with the floats and music it’s an absolute must-see show. Find a good spot on Main Street so you can also enjoy the lights on the buildings!

The Party-Exclusive Popcorn Bucket

The Not-So-Scary Halloween Party merch varies from lovely to lackluster, but historically the popcorn buckets are always a win. I don’t regret waiting in line to snag one of these adorable pumpkin Mickey buckets! (And the cheap refills during the rest of our trip were just icing on the cake.) Expect to see this in my Halloween decor every year!

The Snake Eyes Mocktail

Themed snacks are one of the big party draws, and our absolute favorite was the Snake Eyes mocktail. Not only was it ice-cold and refreshing — which is painfully important in Orlando — but it was delicious and adorably themed. The two Nightmare Before Christmas-themed souvenir glow cube dice were an addition so sweet this drink was more than worth the wait.
