St. Louis Iced Tea | Cocktail Recipe & Perfect Drink PRO Review

St. Louis loves beer. It looooooves beer.  It has a long history of beer, and an impressive amount of beer. It seems the entire city adores the beverage. I don’t love beer, but I do really love St. Louis, so little by little I’m finding ways to embrace the drink. When in Rome, right?

This was the logic when I crafted up this cocktail. Drizly asked its Top Shelf Bloggers — a group I’m proud to be a part of! — to create their own take on the Long Island Iced Tea. I knew I wanted to try making a beer version, and a friend of mine/beer enthusiast recommended taking a peach route with local brew Wheach by O’Fallon Brewery. Even as a non-beer drinker, I’ve got to say… yum.

St. Louis Iced Tea Cocktail Recipe

Serves One

  • 0.5 oz. white rum
  • 0.5 oz. vodka
  • 0.5 oz. triple sec
  • 0.5 oz. tequila
  • 1/3 C. soda
  • 1/3 C. peach beer
  • 1 C. ice
  • 1/4 C. peaches

While it has more ingredients than most my recipes, making this one is very simple: mix everything together and enjoy.

What’s that fancy gadget pictured with my drink, you ask? My robot bartender! Kidding. Sort of. Actually that might be the best way to explain it. In addition to our recent Iced Tea assignment, us Drizly Top Shelf Bloggers were sent a Perfect Drink PRO to try out. These spacey scales are how you’d assume George Jetson would make his Manhattans. (Did he drink? I’m just guessing here, but I feel like he’d drink a Manhattan…) The scale connects to your smartphone wirelessly, where it syncs with hundreds of recipes — and even, if you want to get double fancy, your own recipes and on-hand ingredients. Using the weight of the liquids, it is able to tell you when to start and stop pouring what ingredient. The coolest part? If you overpour anything, it adjusts the entire recipe so you can fix it without changing the flavor. I went a little nuts trying it out, overpouring again and again to see it in action, and might have ended up with twice as much drink as I wanted. Ha!

Cheers!
