There’s a time and place for the simple. Certain events pair best with a LBD. Solid color items can have a timeless elegance, like a camel jacket or nude heels. Many days I long to wear nothing but jeans and a plain grey tee.
Today is not one of those days.

Outfits this intense have a bit of a history, so let me fill you in: I bought this skirt on super sale a few years ago and quickly outgrew it. (Cue music.) Since it didn’t fit, it was tucked into a box and that box was accidentally put in the wrong closet of the wrong room. I spotted it while reorganizing and was thrilled to realize it fit again. (Thanks, Fitness Marshall!)
I grabbed this pink crop top so I wouldn’t have to tuck any fabric into the band – I mean, full disclosure, it doesn’t fit THAT well yet, so this wasn’t really a choice so much as a requirement… ha! But since the top seemed to light in comparison to the visual weight of the skirt, I decided to anchor the remaining areas in big-and-bold accessories. Big earrings? Tall shoes? Bold lipstick? Giant sunnies? Check, check, check, and check.
Sometimes more is more.
