There’s a reason I work in print media, and it’s not because I’m a spectacular speaker. My life is written-word oriented; it was only a matter of time before my accessories joined the party.

Because words sometimes come out wrong, try getting your point across with accessories. Need a friendly (or less-than-friendly) greeting? How about references to one of the most quote-worthy movies? A reminder of your special someone, be it romantic or pet-tastic? Google damn near any phrase followed by “jewelry” and you can find it memorialized on necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. And it’s the best.

Keep an eye out for the painfully happy and tread into that territory carefully. Maybe I’m a wee bit cynical, but it’s a slippery slope into obnoxious-ville when your accessories get too goody-goody. (Ahem, the ‘Taken’ bracelet almost didn’t make the list for that very reason, but it’s so skinny that I found it endearing.) At the end of the day, I suppose the fact that I’d rather people assume I’m a cat-addicted pain-in-the-ass than wear a necklace that says “Believe” says a lot about me… I’ll take it as a compliment.
