Weekday Uniform

If you and I were to run into each other on a typical weekday, this is probably what I would look like: a neutral outfit with loads of accessories, boots regardless of season, skinny jeans, lots of layers, a fun lip color, straight hair, and no eye makeup.

I love too many types of style, which is frankly exhausting when trying to get dressed. (I know, poor me, too many things make me smile. What a struggle.) I love everything 1970s, from the early punk vibes to the boho babes. I love color. I love neutrals. I love bold makeup. I love natural-looking makeup. I love straight hair. I love curly hair. I love dresses. I love jeans. I love simple pieces. I love edgy pieces. I love oversized tote bags. I love petite crossbody bags. I could do this all day. And in my line of work, I could wear nearly any type of any item any week. Eventually trying to pick a run-of-the-mill outfit became annoyingly cumbersome. Frankly, I wanted to sleep in later and this was cutting into my shuteye.

Sometime a year or two ago I finally had to nail down a routine. For your typical weekday, excluding during extreme heat, I’m going for the following:

  • Skinny jeans
  • Boots or booties
  • A pullover or loose tee
  • A simple jacket or open button-up in coordinating, typically neutral color
  • Good lipstick
  • Earrings + rings

No eye makeup because I think it’s uncomfortable. No curls because they take too long. No skirts because I’m cold, and I like to sit however I feel like sitting which isn’t always in a skirt-friendly fashion. No flats because I walk out of them. No blouses because they wrinkle. No pumps because duh. This is about surviving the every day, not the special day.

Since finding my weekday uniform, even the not-special days feel good because I am wearing an outfit I feel confident and comfortable in. Does anything make you second-guess yourself more than fidgeting with a hemline? I feel great, and totally myself, wearing this same old combo I grab nearly once a week.

Currently wearing… Sweater c/o Dimvaloo [SIMILAR] | Taupe Faux Leather Moto Jacket c/o Soft Surroundings [HERE] | Boots, Naturalizer | Kendra Scott Elle Earrings c/o Zappos [HERE] | Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC Bag c/o St. Louis Premium Outlets [SEEN HERE] | Lipstick, Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Rose Matter | Choker, H&M | Headband, Anthropologie

With all this extra weekday sleep I have plenty of time to go (outfit) crazy on the weekend…! You know that’s where the fun outfits live.

I love your “uniform”, especially the boots.
