Satin Bomber + All The Patterns

Spoiler alert: This story involves must-have fashion, a celebrity stylist, and minor public screaming. I’m just here to keep things interesting, guys.

During my recent Karlie Kloss x Express runway fashion show fitting, I audibly gasped when the stylists brought me this embroidered satin bomber jacket. “I GET TO WEAR ONE OF THE BOMBER JACKETS?” I actually yelped. I was highly caffeinated and really excited – plus, someone had just mentioned they thought we got to keep our clothes at the end and I knew I’d put this amazing jacket to great use. I had seen the sensational OPTIMIST jacket floating around Instagram and assumed there would be another in the collection, but I had figured it would be saved for someone more important like Karlie herself.

With its earthy olive color and bright rose gold hardware I was so impressed with the color palette – and how I assumed it would look with my ultra red hair. Olive is one of my absolute favorite colors for clothing and home decor, and I decided then and there if we didn’t get to keep the clothes I was ordering this jacket from my phone backstage at the show.

This jacket was intended for my second runway look. (I’m going out of order, I know; I’ll touch on the dress from my first look in a few days!) My original second look consisted of the Karlie Kloss Super Skinny Pencil Skirt, a skirt that feels much like bandage dress material; the Karlie Kloss Slub Cotton Tee in black, which is ultra soft and comfy; easy-to-walk-in Low Block Heeled Sandals in black; hoop earrings; and this olive green bomber jacket.

It was a cute combination, but not great. Something was missing. Then I heard stylist Karla Welch ask the team to swap me to pink, a color I like but don’t wear a ton because so many hues clash with my bottle-red mane. Well there went that, I thought. I’m sure I’ll like the pink one too. Bye, olive embroidery.

The team of stylists took off my black tee and put on a baby pink option that pulled tight on the chest. I handed the jacket back so they could switch it for a pink number, and the most magical thing happened: they flipped the jacket inside-out. BECAUSE IT IS REVERSIBLE.

Mind blown.
