We can all agree subscription boxes are the funnest kind of mail out there, right? Not to mention one of the easiest gifts! Nothing brightens up a bunch of bills like a curated mystery present, and my new favorite option is the recently launched Bit-O-Local box.
Bit-O-Local brings a boxful of hand-picked, St. Louis-made goodies right to your door, and the stories of the makers are nearly as great as the products themselves. I was so happy the team behind Bit-O-Local decided to send me a Holiday Box to review – and even better, they are giving one away to a lucky reader!
Let’s see what makers are highlighted in the Bit-O-Local Holiday Box and explore the products included…
Heritage1993
A bathtub was a must-have when we bought our home. I told Lance it was for potential children or resale value, but in reality I just love having the option of taking a long, extra-hot bath. I’ve always been a bubbles kind of gal, but these Heritage1993 Exhale Soaking Bath Salts look ultra luxe, and the generous size means I can try them a few times. (Retail value: $18)
Faire Acres
How cute is this travel mug? I feel like I’ve written about Shelah, the owner of Faire Acres, constantly since starting this site; her previous lines, like August Abroad, have been featured here many times, and I’ve even covered her collections for a St. Louis lifestyle publication. The vintage camp-meets-sarcasm theme of Faire Acres products really speaks to me, what with my disdain for bugs and my skin’s negative reactions to most forms of plants, and this adorable travel mug is exactly my style. (Retail value: Faire Acres does not current list this product on its site, but ceramic mugs from the brand are $20)
Black Birch Organic
It is barely December and my hands and lips are already bone dry. You can never have enough lip balm! I hide a tube of lip balm with a tampon, a tissue, and a toothpick inside all of my handbags because being prepared makes me calm. Ha! I think I’ll upgrade this lip balm to be my new bedside option, though – I love something heavy-duty like this before going to sleep. This Black Birch Organic Lip Saver is handmade and can even be used on other ultra-dry areas like your nose! (Retail value: $5)
Maginating
We l-o-v-e retro robots at our house. Our collection of Jetsons-like robot toys, figurines, and ornaments is at an all-time high, and this adorable desk calendar is the perfect addition! (Although truth be told, I think I’m taking it to work with me – sorry Lance!) The calendar sheets from this St. Louis-based card company are nice and thick, and can be slid into the plastic holder to be displayed; it’s like a CD case you fold inside out. I think I’ll pin mine to my bulletin board – these robots are so cute I need them at eye level. (Retail value: $15)
Lonesome Traveler
Lance can’t be all that bummed I’m hogging the robot calendar because he gets this nifty leather tie bar! The Lonesome Traveler makes high-quality accessories for men, from bowties to cufflinks. The custom-stamped tie clips are one of my favorite things on the site, and going with STL instead of a traditional monogram is too cool. (Retail value: $18)
If you’ve read this blog before, you know how we critique subscription boxes: item value versus cost! The Bit-O-Local Holiday Box has an estimated retail value between $56 and $76; let’s take the middle option and go with $66. The $25 price tag is a total steal! Subscription boxes are always a great gift, and one with unique, locally made products is sure to be well received by anyone on your list.
But you know what’s even better than getting all these included products for more than 50% off retail? Getting them totally free. Enter to win the Bit-O-Local Holiday Box below.

I love Maginating- it’s great to see some support for local STL artists!
So difficult to choose just one! Love it all! <3
That Lip saver sounds amazing! I also love something heavy duty at bed time and this seems like the perfect option!
Lately, my lips have been pretty chapped, so maybe the lip saver. Otherwise maybe the bath salts. Looks great though!
The bath salts is what I am most excited about!
I need me some lip savers, I’m getting older and feel that I need lip care more than ever.
The Road Fuel Traveling Cup. That would be nice to have.
I would be most excited to try the Lip Saver.
