As if you didn’t know, athletic apparel is not just for the gym anymore. Over the last few years, this trend has stretched itself into all aspects of the fashion realm—literally stretched, thanks spandex—from daytime apparel to date night looks. While I don’t love every version of this trend (sequins and heels ≠ athleisure compatibility IMO), after years of fighting the comfort of leggings I’m now fully converted to their simple and slenderizing ways.
My latest athleisure obsession? Macy’s. Macy’s at South County Shopping Center is one four locations in the country to receive its new athletic expansion. The store reallocated thousands of square feet to the newly redesigned active departments for men, women, and juniors to include a larger stock of top brands like Nike, Calvin Klein, Adidas, Under Armour, and Champion. These areas are even staffed by certified trainers—Jamie helped me shop the women’s area and Jordan can be found in the men’s—who help shoppers find the right workout apparel for their particular activity.
Clearly the new department has the athletic part down. How about the athleisure? (At this point, I’m just seeing how many times I can post that word… ha!) Peek inside this newly renovated area and my new Macy’s athleisure outfit below.

Macys provided me with a gift card to shop the new department and style my own athleisure look for autumn. Since beginning to work from home, this style has become one of my weekday staples. I went for a pair of Calvin Klein pants that are a legging/jogger hybrid. These feature the decorative bands at the ankles and handy pockets you would find in sweatpants, but the feel and fit of leggings. On top, I have a tunic-length long sleeve tee by Ideology. This brand is exclusive Macy’s and features a budget-friendly price point with high-quality details, like these reinforced thumb holes. On top of this outfit, I added a casual, fall friendly button-up plaid shirt by Levi’s. It is also a longer length and looks cute with the leggings by itself, but I wanted a bit of that 1990s flair.
Feel like shopping? We’re giving away two $50 Macy’s gift cards! If you win, I recommend getting these pants as they’re so comfortable I can’t take them off. (But you’re welcome to pick whatever floats your boat.) Enter using the widget below.
Thank you for collaborating on and sponsoring this post, Macy’s South County!
