Wearing blue gingham in October is a dangerous game — after all, it’s a bit too cold for picnics and close enough to Halloween to be mistaken for Dorothy. But one cannot argue with the dates an infamously-expensive mall store offers an extra percent off the lowest-marked price, so if gingham comes in October, then, damn it, gingham will be worn in October.

The oversized blue pattern paired perfectly with this new statement necklace from St. Louis’ Collections by Joya. As explained by the company, “Collections by Joya is a curated selection of handcrafted jewelry and accessories made by amazingly talented women artisans around the world.” Its focus is women giving to women, which includes both a charitable aspect and included gift wrap with every subscription box. (More on the subscription boxes later — Collections by Joya was nice enough to gift me one, which you’ll see more of soon.) Portions of all proceeds benefit The Women’s Safe House in St. Louis and Bali Life. Handcrafted style at an affordable price with a philanthropic component — what more could you ask for?
