I don’t think I hide the fact that I prefer winter to summer and autumn to spring. I was outside in the sun long enough to attend one church sale this weekend and a random older woman recommended I get in the shade. “You’re very… p…” she paused. “Pale,” I said. She tried to cover with porcelain. It’s cool, lady friend; you accepted my low offer on that typeset drawer, so you could have called me damn near anything. Also I am very pale.
When you’re prone to sunburn and more comfortable in layers, the neon hues and light fabrics of the warmer months can… uh… suck. In response, I’ve been working on acquiring a collection of autumn-themed outfits in summertime silhouettes. Case in point: open-back suede dresses and peep-toe booties.

LA-based web boutique Tobi recently sent me this shift dress (along with some other amazing items you’ll see soon!) and I am madly in love. It is a teeny bit like not wearing clothes because the back is so open that it is shockingly breezy… as in, omigod did I wear clothes today? breezy. But you are wearing clothes, so it’s totally fine. In fact, you’re wearing really easy clothes that barely require any accessories. Clothes you can even get for 50% off if you’re a new customer. You win.
P.S. Isn’t this bra the cutest? Pro boob-owning tip: If you’re too busty for those delicate bralettes but want to show them off in a backless outfit, try adding a stick-on bra underneath. With the two working together, they were about 75% as effective as a regular bra, which is more than enough for such a loose-fitting dress.
