The Shorts Season

Stirring images of everything from hippie girls to never-nudes to denim queen Daisy Duke, the cut-off short is as iconic summer as I get… And the Midwest is finally starting to enter the spell of shorts-wearing weather.

I like my shorts constructed of thick denim with a (slightly) loose fit and a longer-than-Daisy-Dukes hem. To me, this combination with a slouchy top keeps the look appropriate when paired with wedge sandals, a.k.a. one of the only types of sandals I can handle. There is a distinct difference between over-sized shorts and perfectly sized shorts with a slightly over-sized look, and this pair hits that note perfectly.

With all the undoubted warm weather on the horizon, it’s probably time to buy a second pair of shorts. This pair has lasted a few years, a handful of trips and hundreds of washings– it’s only a matter of time before it call it quits. To ease that impending devastation, it’s time to start hunting now.

Where do you buy your shorts? I’m in need of more stores to love!

It’s definitely not shorts season in my part of the Midwest yet. I really like Express shorts, actually. They’re a little dressier, because they aren’t denim, they aren’t super tight, and for me, they’re the perfect length.

Thanks for the tip! I used to buy all my pants there, so I don’t know why I didn’t think to look for shorts!

We’re stuck in the mid-60s here, which isn’t a bad temperature to be at. I hope the rest of the Midwest catches up soon!
