JCPenney is Back in a Big Way: Black Skinnies, Floral Blouse, Discounts

Today was a never-stop-moving kind of day. It was a leave at 8, get home at 8 sort of Monday. This was one of those days where you’re mad at your need to eat, drink and blink because– let’s be honest– it can feel like a waste of precious seconds.

I’m proud to say I spent the day pulling for a fashion spread that I am incredibly excited for– and that’s a spectacular feeling, especailly for the ‘new girl.’ But collecting three dozen or so shoes and bags and what-have-you can be, well, exhausting. If nothing else, it’s hard to carry. I knew today would be (the best kind of) exhausting, so I opted for flats, skinnies and the messy-professional half-tucked blouse. That cream flap-pocket Limited option I wear too often? No, no, something new, something great… Because I went to JCPenney this weekend.

The MNG by Mango Floral Print Blouse was originally $40, but I scored it for $12 after a double clearance/coupon combo. It’s fresh, it’s versatile… And it’s everything JCPenney seems to be about.

I mentioned a while back I was impressed by JCPenney‘s refreshing take on the discount department store– after all, for years I would have told you “I don’t like anything at Penney’s…” But then I wandered into a store, coupons in hand. There’s no point in trying to explain it; you really just ought to go. For just over $50, I purchased two short sleeved blouses ($12 each), two long-sleeved blouses ($12, $5), a pair of Betseyville heels ($7) and a semiformal peplum dress ($5).

While I was working today, a very nice woman complimented my new blouse. She was mid-purchase as she spoke, buying a pair of thousand-some-odd-dollar shoes, and asked me where in the world I found my blouse. “At JCPenney!” I said. She blinked so hard you could hear it. “For twelve dollars!” If her shocked reaction doesn’t prove everyone worth liking likes a discount, nothing will.

Isn’t it nice when the classic stores come back? Where do you look for discounts?

Thank you! And yes, you do. The clothing options were great, the displays were fresh, and the sales rack were practically endless. I’m still dorking out.
