Don’t get me wrong; I want to say “It’s after Labor Day! That means it’s fall! Hoooooray!” Really, I do. I wish it were 64 degrees outside. I, too, am ready for autumn. But the fact of the matter is, it won’t be fall for a few more weeks. [I now shrivel onto the ground like a bad special effects Buffy vamp… “Weeeeeekkksss?!” Weeks.]
I may or may not have sat in a pile of scarves and sweaters, sobbing, when the weather man called for a weekend of 90+ days. Only a slight exaggeration…
If we’re lucky, the temperature will start to drop soon. Sure, it isn’t 100+, but it certainly isn’t 64. Like many other “porcelain” (read: pale, paler and palest) gals, autumn is my season. The jewel tones make me look delicate, not deathly. Until I can wrap myself in knit after knit–with the finishing touch of boots, obviously–I’ll try balancing a few of my summer staples with my fall favorites. Wedges, cut-offs, cardis and thigh-high socks… It’s seasonal, yeah?
I’m having a serious moment with autumn-appropriate florals; I normally find them too brightly printed in the spring, so I stock up on the muted options. Thinking about one of the best parts of warm weather while dressing for chillier days seems like a great compromise. I think I found my post-Labor Day/pre-autumn uniform.
