If you aren’t using your friends as outfit guinea pigs, you’re totally missing out.
Let me explain. Your friends have their own style. It’s probably awesome, because I assume you’re awesome, and you probably chill with awesome people. They are going to dress that rad-ass way they dress. And if you don’t pay attention to that and possibly try a few friend-inspired looks, you’re ignoring walking, talking outfit inspiration (and frankly, you’re probably ignoring other important friend things like conversation but that’s none of my business.)
My friend Sara constantly reminds me about the retro glory of circle skirts. Lindsay’s wardrobe is so fashion-forward and chic it inspires me to look for timeless textures instead of trendy patterns while shopping. Erin bought me a ‘pizza’ necklace to match her ‘taco’ necklace, if that explains the cheekiness she brings to her looks. And my friend Maggie has inspired me more than once to try new silhouettes.
It started with a drop-waist dress she picked up while we were shopping once. I hadn’t ever considered the shape, and while it isn’t typically the best look on me, it can be super cute on curves when done correctly. Then a few months ago she rocked the hell out of a midi shift dress that I was convinced only she and celebs could pull off. I was reminded of this killer outfit while searching through midi dresses from Tobi, and — in the spirit of friend-inspired looks — decided to take the plunge and try midi knitwear for myself!
