Runway Highlights | STLFW Industry Night

Each day that it’s dark when I wake up, I am a little more tempted to rock my black skinny jeans/boots/oversized sweater/scarf combo, with a messy bun and jewel-toned lip stain, because it is easy and fantastic. I don’t say that as if it’s a disgraceful outfit; quite the contrary, really, as it’s one of my personal favorites. The look goes from friendly interest to reality-TV-like obsession when it is all I want to wear any time it is dark when I wake up… Mainly because it’s going to be dark when I wake up every day for the next few months. I simply don’t own enough oversized sweaters to make this a sustainable style, seven days a week.

Times like this, I need the figurative swift kick in the ass– preferably from a foot wearing a fab shoe. Thank goodness, I haven’t rehashed all my Saint Louis Fashion Week details just yet. While this can’t keep me out of my skinny jeans tomorrow (uhh, it’s Casual Friday, praise the weekend), I’m guessing it’s enough to remind me of all the other fantastic, non-denim items I adore.

A few weeks back, I was lucky enough to be given a front row seat to the first STLFW Industry Night, which featured presentations during the pre-show reception, along with a rad-tastic runway show and after party. Care to see a few of my favorite looks? Scroll down, and get ready to drool.

Note: My only complaint of the evening has nothing to do with the event or fashions, but instead a personal no-no. Because I find parking downtown to be a giant anxiety attack, Lance kindly dropped me off at the show; but, silly me, I forgot to text him when I wanted to go home, which meant I hung around even as the after party morphed into the illusive and horrifying dance party. I come to the table with one move, and it’s called my Old Man Dance, and it does not have a sexier counterpart. I may or may not have literally dug my stilettos into the cement when some friends decided to join the ironically dancing masses. I cannot, will not, and did not participate, if for no other reason than I simply cannot afford the necessary amount of pre-jiving vodka tonics when they are $7 a pop.
