Good news: There’s a SUMMER BLOWOUT SALE on the Tarina Tarantino website. Unfamiliar with Tarina? She designs the cheekiest, more cheerful jewelry you’ve never seen– but if you like a little happy-go-lucky, you’re about to fall in love. The picture-perfect pink-haired woman designs lines featuring cult favorites like retro Barbie, Alice in Wonderland + friends, and characters from the Wizard of Oz.
Note: Isn’t it fitting that my super lame dork out picture says SuperLame.com in the corner? Fun website if you want to embrace your inner nerd.
But I didn’t mention what’s on sale. Is it the Mad Hatter or Dorothy? Not this time. Tarina’s Pink Head collection– which features Sanrio’s Hello Kitty rocking a pink ‘do– is on sale with discounts ranging from 40%-60% off.
I personally love Hello Kitty. I know, I know, I’m one of those obnoxious twenty-somethings who loves Hello Kitty, how generic. Whatever. Sanrio is painfully sweet. When mixed into an outfit in teeny bits (teeny!) a little HK adds a touch of whimsy without screaming Please be annoyed by me/Look how much I love Hello Kitty! See how HK blends into the background (aka, my hair) when worn with a floral top, pleated skirt and nude platform sandals? Completely acceptable for someone my age, and just the right amount of feminine without tipping into frighteningly pink territory. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Note: I may or may not have a silver and pink Hello Kitty Christmas tree entirely full of HK ornaments with a Hello Kitty stuffed animal tree skirt, but that is a sad and pathetic story for another day. *Blush*
Blouse, JCPenney [HERE] | Skirt, Target [HERE] | Platform Sandals, Steve Madden [SIMILAR] | Purse, Coach [SIMILAR] | Belt, Vintage [SIMILAR] | Sunglasses, H&M [SIMILAR] | Watch, Anne Klein [HERE] | Earrings, Tarina Tarantino [HERE]
Super feminine pose, no? If you can’t tell, this is outfit is fun to wear, and I thank Hello Kitty for a large part of that.
According to the Tarina website, this sale ends TOMORROW– as in May 23– at midnight. Check out the sale HERE! Happy shopping!
Haha YOU WOULD! I distinctly remember you writing an article on Barbie fashion last year as well…Love the feminine bursts in outfits (especially nostalgic ones)

Uhm… Barbie is a style icon, Rita. And she is also a doctor. And an archaeologist. And an artist. And a vet. And a princess. And a ballerina. And a sports star. And she ran for president last year. Gosh. 😉
