It’s. So. Hot. | Work-Ready in a Heat Wave

Remember how I asked for autumn? I practically begged. Well guess what, St. Louisans! It isn’t here yet, damn it! Instead, we’re stuck in a terrible heat wave with psycho-high humidity, and I’m stuck being a zitty, sticky, frizzy-haired bitch.

God, I hate summer.

And wearing office-appropriate attire makes warm weather a trillion times worse. Possibly more. My brain is too melted for math. At least I have a few breezy, lightweight dresses to survive the dreaded, questionable office air conditioner—will it work today? will it break today? it’s always a gamble! no one can win!—and the unbearable outside.

Before I fell madly, deeply in love with Pitaya (more love here and here) it was the new-to-me store where my mother found my 24th birthday gift, a.k.a. this fantastic dress that has pockets.

This frock is adorable with black tights and boots, but it’s practically made for the end of summer. Throw some brown sandals, turquoise jewelry, and animal print into the mix for a summer-meets-fall look. Plus, as much as I hate to say it—because I think it makes me sound like someone who’d bring a grandfather clock camping, like in Tarzanit’s a little safari-themed, which is nice for August. After all, I don’t know much about going on safari, but I’m guessing it’s on the warmer side.
