Ah, the mid-heel. It’s not short enough to hang with the practical shoes, nor is it tall enough to bump shoulders with sultry stilettos… No, no, mid-heels aren’t either of those things; instead, they’re this great combination of retro and fashion-forward. (And not to ruin their style credibility, but man, are they comfortable.)
On the fence? Answer me this: Have you ever tipped over, while walking or otherwise, in sky-high heels? (Yes, the “or otherwise” addition is in reference to the fact that I’ve been known to sometimes just tip like one of those fainting goats because balance isn’t always my strong suit.) Mid-heels have you firmly planted, while still offering that 1.75″ addition. It might be the difference between comfortably reaching the Lean Cuisines in the frozen food aisle, instead of having to suck up your grown-woman pride and ask for a taller adult’s assistance. (What, just me again?)
Vogue Footwear’s selection of mid-heels is quite tempting, so when I was offered my pick I spent a weirdly long time deciding between the colors. Final decision: Why tiptoe the retro line when you can twist and shout across it?

And while I love a mid-heel with a full skirt, like seen above, they look equally chic when paired with skinny jeans cuffed at the ankle. Versatility is key, no?

PS: Recognize the background? Any fashion-lover in St. Louis would. As I wandered Delmar, I realized my outfit matched the exterior of this former boutique. We’ll miss you, Zeizo.
