The 90s were a confusing time, fashionably speaking. Shoes were made of impractical clear plastic. Accessories were topped with fur for no reason. Both the baggiest of jeans and the most revealing of dresses were in trend. Embroidered bucket hats were a popular headwear option.
Despite the weirdness, I’m a huge 90s fashion fan. I was born in 1990, which means I was able to grow up idolizing, for example, both the feminine flair of Cher and Dionne and the grunge edge of Tai and Travis without really being able to live out said outfit dreams. (Because, ya know, you don’t buy your own clothes at that age. Turns out I also didn’t get 75% of the jokes in that movie until much later. Why was I allowed to watch that again?) It should come as little shock that I’m thrilled so many trends from the decade are back in style.
Using some of my #Karlie4Express pieces, I was able to create my 1990s dream look — with a few minor updates, like a bit of boho flair. Lightwash denim? Check. Crop top cap sleeve tee? Check. Funky plastic accessories? Check. All that is missing is JTT on my arm and my childhood fantasy is complete.

P.S. My love for the 90s does not mean I am excited for the relaunch of the Steve Madden Slinky slides. No. Please no. The noise…
