I’ve never understood why Midwestern people get married in June. Or hold galas in July. Or rooftop celebrations in August. It is hot. It is hot and it is humid. It is so hot and humid that I can barely write a sentence because this week’s weather left my brain a little melted.
But with sunshine comes packed social calendars, and often the warm-weather events are the most fun. Since the line between stylish and sweaty—especially while wearing notoriously un-breathable fabrics—is thin, I’m here to help. Let’s start with Situation No. 1: A trendy cocktail party. (Not going to one soon? Keep reading to find out about an upcoming event that I was asked to share with you… But trust me, you have to attend.)
Problem: It’s too hot to get dressed up, but I have to attend a party.
Solution: Formal blouse + denim shorts + statement jewelry
Currently Wearing… Blouse, Halogen, Nordstrom Rack [SIMILAR] | Cut-Offs, H&M [SIMILAR] | Peep-Toes, Vince Camuto, DSW [SIMILAR] | Tote, garage sale | Bangle, vintage | Earrings and ear cuff, Pitaya [SIMILAR and SIMILAR]
I wore this to ALIVE’s properly-named Hot List Party. (Seriously, it was way fun and way hot.) Since that annual event has come and gone, try a look like this at the upcoming Ruth’s Chris Patio Party at the Clayton location (more like destination—this part of town is lovely during the day and fabulous at night.)
The Patio Party is this Thursday night (June 26) from 6 to 9 p.m. At the event, attendees can enjoy RBar happy hour prices on the adorably-named Sizzle, Swizzle & Swirl menu. Also, samples—man, I love samples—of the cocktail variety. (Ooooh!) Local favorite DJ TrashTalk will be spinning while we’re all sipping. Perfect way to start the night, right?
PS: Thank you for sponsoring this post, Ruth’s Chris. But don’t fret, dolls—these opinions are my own.
The earrings and ear cuff are super-rad! Love it!
